On the photo-printed yakisugi, or Japanese burnt wood, each piece of jewelry is set in designated places – it is where the tale of dreams start.
Magnified by the jewelry, the diversity of women bodies comes to life. Along with the graceful details of the tableau and jewelry, what was perceived as a two-dimensional image becomes a three-dimensional sculpture. Once removed from the tableau, the jewelry adorns another moving body.
“These pieces were inspired by a painting I discovered by chance in a small chapel at Bréhat Island in Brittany. The painting depicted an angel armed with a spear, which seemed to be connected to an actual rope hanging from the ceiling.”
“One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.” Oscar Wilde
